Nine candidates are elected to the Boston City Council.

They are Frederick Hailer Jr., Christopher Iannella, William Foley Jr., John Kerrigan, Edward McCormack Jr., Patrick McDonough, Edward McLaughlin Jr., Gabriel Piemonte, and Joseph White. McCormack is the top vote getter with 61,345. Hailer resigns and is replaced by James Coffey on April 22, 1958. McCormack resigns and is replaced by Peter Hines on September 15, 1958. Turnout is 113,361 or 32.8%.
